Memories Made New 2020-21
A person’s memory is like a game of telephone. The original message becomes more altered each time it is whispered into the next ear. By the time the game ends, the message has been made new. Each time an event from the past is remembered, it is remembered slightly different than beforehand. As time goes on, the memory becomes slightly distorted. This body of work, Memories Made New, began with the discovery of 15 disposable cameras from my family’s past. Curious about the contents, I developed the film. Thirty five years of lost memories in time were found. Yet, most of the photographs developed from the film came back distorted, blurred, and with abnormal colors. Similar to how a message becomes altered during a game of telephone.
